Velvet
A bottom-fermented beer, 5.3% alcohol, with a remarkable visual appearance and taste, whose development was inspired by a traditional English recipe.
The magic of Velvet is created by a unique combination of three malts, which are processed as part of an entirely original procedure with the use of more bitter strains of hops, a choice of the most quality malt barley, and topped off by a special method for drawing the beer into glasses. Characteristic for Velvet is its gentle, bittery, velvety taste, golden brown colour and the avalanche effect that takes place in the glass after decanting and which culminates in the formation of a rich, creamy head of foam. The character of Velvet and the manner in which it is served makes drinking it a ritual feast for all the senses.
Velvet was successfully brought to market in October 1997 and since its launch it is offered in carefully selected establishments, whose appearance and atmosphere are up to the exceptional character of the brand.
Right from the beginning of its existence, Velvet became very popular and gained a wide following among consumers. This fact is a strong point of the brand to this day. Velvet is the leading brand in the specialty beer segment and its name recognition and popularity among consumers in its target group goes beyond the borders of this category, even reaching the level occupied by strong traditional brands such as Budvar and Staropramen. |

Kelt
A magical dark beer with alcohol content 4.8%, Kelt is characterised by its rich form, pronounced bittery taste and unforgettable dry aftertaste of roasted barley. Its secret lies in a unique combination of malts, strong hops and deep fermentation. Inspired by a legendary Celtic recipe, it awakens in us long-forgotten forces. Kelt was successfully brought to market in November 1998, and ever since its launch it has been offered in bars and restaurants whose design is in line with the exceptional characteristics of this brand.
Kelt is carving out its rightful place in the market, a fact attested to by its steadily rising number of consumers and sales volumes. Today, Kelt is the second strongest brand in the specialty beer segment and its brand name recognition and popularity is on a par with its main competitors, Guiness and Murphy's. |

Beer can with widget
Ever since April 1998, lovers of Velvetu beer can enjoy their favourite beer at home as well as at the pub – that month marked the launch of Velvet in 0.44L cans. Thanks to its special "widget" attachment, Velvet in cans has the exact same characteristics as the draught variety. When the can is opened, the very same gas is released into the beer as used in restaurants to draw Velvet into glasses. When the beer is poured from the can into the glass, the consumer can see and enjoy the exact same Velvet s/he has come to love – a beer with a thick, creamy head of foam that is pleasing not just for its fine taste, but also for its unmistakable avalanche effect, which lingers long after pouring. |
First Brewery School
Our innovations are not limited just to those relating to our products. We also bring our customers other attractive supplemental services – such as the "First Brewery School". This special training takes place right in the Staropramen Brewery and is open to pub owners, their employees and regulars, i.e. faithful, frequent pub visitors. The First Brewery School takes place each week on Monday. Every "class" consists of around forty students. The school day starts around 10:00 a.m. with a brewery tour, after which a class on theory is held. After a break and refreshment in the form of Staropramen 10-degree beer, wheat beer or Garnet there is a specialised discussion seminar relating to a wide variety of areas. The school day generally ends around 4:00 p.m. Graduates receive a very nice diploma – in the form of a historical stock certificate of the Staropramen Brewery. |
